Who We Are
Founded in 1964 and incorporated as a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization in 1979, Community Information & Referral is a vital link between people who need help and the organizations which provide that help. Read our annual reports for more details.
Our Board of Directors and funders help direct us toward the future.
What We Do
Our free and confidential 24-Hour Help Hotline serves all of Arizona all day every day.
From July 2007 through June 2008, Community Information & Referral helped over 303,000 callers with thousands of referrals to available community resources.
During that same time period, this website helped more than 280,000 visitors find information by searching our database and browsing our seasonal calendars.
Our database of over 2000 agencies includes government and private nonprofit organizations, self-help groups, civic clubs, professional associations, and much more.
We publish Directories of Human Services & Self-Help Support Groups and provide lists and mailing labels from our referral database for a nominal fee.
Beyond Referrals
We provide a variety of special programs throughout our community.
As a co-founder of AzTeC (Arizona Telecommunication Community) Computing, a Free-Net providing free, text-based internet access, Community Information & Referral is committed to helping people access information easily.
Also, as a founding member of the Alliance of Information & Referral Systems (AIRS), an international professional organization with over 900 members throughout the United States and Canada, we take the lead in providing information to those in need in as many ways as possible.
Our Thanks
We are deeply indebted to the millions of people we've assisted over the years. Their numbers attest to the need and value of our services and those of the agencies we list. We especially thank those who tell us how we've been able to help them.
To our government, corporate and individual funders, Board of Directors, past and present volunteers and staff members, thank you for making it possible for us to continue to provide our valuable community services to the people who need us.
Join us! We have volunteer and employment opportunities available.
